Julia holds a master’s degree in Clinical Sexology from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Since 2018, Julia has been a member of the Ordre professionnel des sexologues du Québec and holds her psychotherapist’s licence issued by the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. During her academic career, Julia was interested in research on late virginity, the evolution of sexual content in the media according to gender, as well as devices for building knowledge about the sexuality of trans people.
Having studied in both French and English, Julia practices psychotherapy in both languages. During her master’s training, she specialized in the cognitive-behavioral approach as well as the humanistic and existential approach with a clientele presenting various issues regarding sexuality and gender.
Her psychotherapy and sexology services are of an integrative approach incorporating various techniques from different models including schema therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, as well as person-centred therapy. She currently works with adolescents, adults and couples with various problems regarding gender and sexuality, including but not limited to sexual dysfunctions and sexual dependence/compulsions. Julia also works with clients seeking help for marital/relationship difficulties, emotional dependence as well as victims of sexual assault/harassment. During her therapy sessions, Julia offers a safe and non-judgmental environment that is conducive to change while showing empathy and authenticity.
