Having first oriented her academic and professional career towards kinesiology, Sophie quickly became interested in motivation in relation to health-related behaviors. For fifteen years, she worked in various professional environments, including: fitness centers, psychiatric hospitals and in support of members of the Canadian Armed Forces. The diverse clientele she has worked with has given her the opportunity to broaden and develop her skills with regards to counseling, health education and health promotion.
To date, Sophie is completing a doctorate in clinical psychology at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), before witch she completed two internships, one at the UQO Psychological Services Clinic and the other in health psychology at Montfort Hospital. She has received training in cognitive-behavioral and experiential-humanistic approaches. Sophie is closely involved in trauma-related disorders (childhood abuse and neglect, sexual abuse, illness), adjustment difficulties with life transitions and illness, mood disorders and eating and body image disorders.
